Trail description

The Lake Loop Route has its trailhead at Tannheim Tourist Information Office. The track runs southwards and takes you to the east end of the village. After crossing a few roads, the loop meanders over the outermost meadows of the valley and eventually brings you to the hamlet of Schmieden. Having passed the homes of this tiny settlement, the route snakes through open terrain before it enters a thicket of snow-laden trees. Passing Gappenfeldbach, the track follows undulating terrain until it reaches the north shore of Vilsalpsee Lake. Take a rest and pause at the quaint inn by the lake. Once replete and replenished, you will tackle a few descents on your way back, skirting the west end of the valley. The track crosses Vilsalpstraße and turns westward towards Lienzen. A final descent takes you down to the meadows in front of the Tannheim Tourist Information Office.
