The summit of Hohe Salve Mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps is perhaps the most stunning view you'll find in Tirol and the perfect destination for amazing natural beauty. Apart from jaw-dropping views, Austria’s highest-lying pilgrimage church and a revolving observation deck await you at the top.
The easiest way to access the mountain is by riding the gondola to the top. The gondola will sweep you from Hopfgarten to the top of 1,829-meter Hohe Salve Mountain in only a few minutes. It's like a bird's eye view—in flight and the views are breathtaking! At the top, Hohe Salve Summit Restaurant with its revolving observation deck awaits you, from where you can enjoy 360 degree views of over 70 "Three-Thousanders", high altitude peaks averaging 3,000 meters in elevation. These are some of the country's best views, and this is the best way to see them. On a clear day you can see as far as the Wilder Kaiser Mountains, the Inn Valley, the Zillertal Alps and even the Hohe Tauern Mountains with glorious Großglockner, Austria’s tallest peak. The restaurant features fine Tirolese fare and little ones will have the time of their lives on the playground. Just a stone's throw from the restaurant is the 400-year-old Salvenkirchlein Chapel, the highest-lying church of pilgrimage in Austria. Don't forget to check out the Sundial Trail with 15 sundials and information boards teaching visitors about sun, wind and weather. There is also an easy hiking trail around the summit of the mountain.
