This volunteer project is dedicated to locally reintroduce the Bearded Vulture in the protected area of Hohe Tauern National Park.
The Bearded Vulture is a bird of prey and the only member of the genus Gypaetus. Traditionally considered an Old World vulture, it lives and breeds on crags in high mountains above timberline. The bird was hunted as a trophy in Europe and thus was largely wiped out. Today, bearded vultures in Europe are considered endangered. This volunteer project is dedicated to locally reintroduce this wonderful bird of prey in the protected area of Hohe Tauern National Park.
