The famous "Schemenlaufen" is held every four years in Imst (next "Schemenlauf": 15.02.2009). This wonderful Carnival parade has remained virtually unchanged over the centuries. Learn about the background to this old custom in an entertaining way in the House of Carnival. The superbly equipped museum presents films and slide shows from a period of time covering a hundred years of history of the Imst Carnival, sound and text collages give insight into the background and diverse preparations, such as carving the wooden masks and building the carnival floats. Old and new masks impressively document the magical fascination of the Schemenlaufen and bear witness to its native power, the rhythm and its secret magic.

The House of Carnival is located directly behind the parish church of Imst.
