Going, Scheffau, Ellmau and Söll are the places to be in September. The four villages consider cattle parade an occasion to say “thank you” to nature.
Folk music and brass-band music, dance, customs and farmer’s specialties are the highlights when the herdsmen return from the pastures on the Wilde Kaiser mountain and the meadows on the Salvenberg and Hartkaiser mountains. The “Glöckliches Söll” exhibition at the village center of Söll is also worth a visit.
Young men perform the legendary Schuhplattler folk dance, while folk-music bands provide for the appropriate musical background. At the farmer’s market the whole variety of local delicacies is offered, ranging from traditional sweet deserts to Tyrolean bacon and cheese.
The Almfestwoche is a festival of tradition and entertainment that lasts for four days. Jovial fun is guaranteed for the young and the old alike.
