Gasthof Gasthof Hintereger, which has been in the family for over 100 years, serves excellent home-cooking that draws from fresh, local produce.
The chef de cuisine takes pride in using seasonal and regional produce whenever possible. Fruit and vegetables come from their own farm, the meat comes from animals bred and raised in a traditional manner on pasture land and they have their own smoke chamber where they produce the most amazing meats and cheese. All other ingredients are sources from regional suppliers to ensure top quality.
Their full-flavored beef broth, bread, cakes and strudels are homemade from scratch. There are no unnecessary frills or exotic accompaniments – the focus here is on top quality ingredients and sophisticated culinary know-how. The restaurant specializes in local Tirolean cuisine with some Austrian dishes (such as Viennese schnitzel). The portions are generous and the price is very reasonable.
New is the annex which is run as a hotel. The simple and pleasing wooden building is flooded with light and offers superb views of Osttirol’s mountains. The Hinteregger’s were awarded the Tirolean Wood Construction Prize for their house.
Hotel Gasthof Hinteregger is both a culinary and architectural gem and well worth a trip.
