New Device for People Having Difficulty Walking
With the help of the RollRinn stretcher, people having difficulty walking should also be able to experience the feeling when on top of a mountain.
Innsbruck Roll Rinn Gebirgstrage
In July 2010, the RollRinn Association has offered one of its members the possibility to climb a mountain for the very first time. “We have had built a stretcher, similar to the one of the mountain rescue team, equipped with a wheel and a seat and climbed the Neunerspitze peak (2285m) with Daniel,” reflects Bernhard Triendl, head of the association.

This was a unique experience for Daniel Platzer from Tirol. He had never seen his home country from above before and has never been that high up in the mountains! About 40 members of the association participated in the ascent of 1200 meters. The RollRinn stretcher is great news for all people having difficulties walking.

With a team of helpers and this device, people with walking difficulties are finally able to discover their favourite mountains.

Due to the swivel-mounted and lateral bars, more than two people can help carrying the stretcher if the path is very steep and boasts many obstacles.
Important
  • When it is flat, two helpers are enough to push and carry the RollRinn stretcher.
  • When it is steeper, additional backups are needed and more helpers in order to take turns.
  • People with paraplegia simply take a seat and further adjustments can be made for people with tetraplegia.
  • It is very important to choose the right way to the top in order to make sure that the helpers have enough space, that it is not too steep and that the mountain railways are suitable for this excursion. Local mountain guides should be contacted.
  • Zirbenweg tour example: The well-known panorama path from the Patscherkofel in Innsbruck in the direction of the Glungezer peak can be easily managed with six helpers.

    RollRinn Help
The mountain stretcher can be rented for free, however voluntary donations are welcomed. Of course, interested people will find information and advice for free – this is obvious for Bernhard Triendl.
