Partying is fun and with great music it’s even more fun. In Tirol you will find a whole host of inns, bars and pubs offering live acts.
A vibrant nightlife scene has developed in Innsbruck’s Viaduktbögen in the 1980ies: one watering hole after the other opened its doors and now the entire length of the street is lined with bars and pubs where people party, drink and celebrate into the small hours. With such a wealth of places to hang out it’s not always easy to find one that best suits your taste and preferences. A good way to sort clubs is by whether they offer live music or not.
One of the more unique places is
p.m.k – Plattform mobile Kulturinitiativen in Viaduktbogen 19 and 20, which is run in an association of 30 culture initiatives. Music ranges from new folk to hip hop, from heavy metal to electro pop, from local bands to international artists – always depending on which culture initiative hosts the event. Cover charges are low to keep the crowds flocking it.
Just around the corner is
Project which focuses on alternative rock and similar genres.
plan b, which opened in the fall of 2008, features DJ nights, hip hop, dub and live concerts every now and then.
Off the Viaduktbögen there are two large events centers which offer live entertainment (almost) every evening. One is
Weekender Club in Tschamlerstraße which features mainly British bands and throws student parties. The other is
Treibhaus, Innsbruck’s bohemian hangout for all ages and types, which is known for hot local jazz and ethnic music on most nights and Sunday mornings.
Outside Innsbruck there is
Kulturlabor Stromboli in Hall;
Eremitage in Schwaz organizes first-class jazz nights;
Komma in Wörgl is covers rock and pop music, and in Kufstein the
Jugend- und Kulturfabrik is the place to be for evening entertainment.
