Nostalgic steam train experience from Jenbach to Achensee

With a 16% incline, it runs from the 3-track railway station at Jenbach up to Achensee: the oldest and only steam-driven funicular railway in Europe (built in 1889).
Enjoy the travel sensation of times gone by, and forget the madness of the modern age. The excursion can continue romantically by joint the boats of the Achensee fleet, or at Jenbach Station by joining the Zillertal Railway (combi-tickets for Zillertal Railway-Achensee-Boat Trip and Rofan cable car or Karwendel cable car). Getting there

From Rosenheim, via the motorway, exit at Wiesing-Achensee, continue on the B171 towards Schwaz as far as Jenbach.
On the motorway from Innsbruck, exit at Jenbach. At the second roundabout, follow the signs to the station.

Ascent from Jenbach to Seespitz € 19.50/person, descent from Seespitz to Jenbach € 17.50/person and the return ride is € 23/person!

In the high season – Good Morning Ticket – the return trip is free when departing from Jenbach at 8:40 am!
Seniors from 60 years ride for the price of a single ticket on Sundays. Return trip free of charge!

Guided tours

A tour of the shed and the historic heating house is possible for 10 or more people. Registration is required at least one day in advance! The tour last about 40 minutes, costs Euro 5/person and includes an "Achenseebahn schnapps" in the historic Dampfbar of Achenseebahn AG!
