With some goodwill and some discipline dangerous situations on the roads of Tirol can be avoided.

To keep your calm in safety matters is always advisable.
On the roads of Tirol one can truly feel as "King of the Road". Still bear the old saying “high spirits mustn’t get out of hands” in mind. If you
ride safely and keep an eye on yourself and others you also ride
better.
A
good helmet is a must for every serious athlete. It avoids a rude awakening after a dream tour.
In the heat of athletic pleasures one unfortunately tends to forget that one isn’t the only one on the roads. For cyclists too, whether riding in a group or on their own, the
traffic regulations apply.
One doesn’t encounter many traffic lights on Tirolean mountain roads, but if one does one is not only legally obliged but also advised in one’s own interest to stick to the regulations.
Red is red , and it means “stop” also for cyclists.
Riding next to one another is only permitted if the road situation allows for it, if riders and the bikes are equipped for a race and if at least a speed of 30km/h is reached.

Within groups separate rules apply, everyone must be able rely on the others.
If you
ride in a group it is the task of the first rider to point out dangers or changes in speed with clear hand signs.
Obstacles are indicated with an outstretched finger. Change maneuvers are started in time so that the riders at the back can adjust to the situation.
Objects at the edge of the road force the whole group to change the lane. Such a change is indicated by waving the right hand to the left (at the back) several times.
If one has to
reduce speed drastically or has to
stop the first rider holds up his hand for a couple of seconds.
If a rider stands up from the saddle without wanting to increase the speed he indicates this with a hand swerve to avoid collision with riders behind due to the short reduction in speed.
