City Archives/Innsbruck Municipal Museum

Innsbruck

The Innsbruck City Archives is the steward of the public trust of archives and historic collections owned by the City of Innsbruck. Special exhibitions on Tirolean art and on the history of Innsbruck are on display at the adjoining Municipal Museum throughout the year. The City Archives is a primary information resource for the history of Innsbruck, from its foundation over its heyday as medieval seat of sovereign princes to health and tourism. The Municipal Museum houses paintings of important Tirolese artists, historic photographs and provides insights into the life of the residents of Innsbruck, including a special presentation depicting the city during World War II.
