June brings the ETU European Triathlon Championships to Kitzbühel. The event is jam packed with a mixture of talent and experience, with elite & amateur athletes and juniors set to line up.
Having previously welcomed European Champions, the event returns to Kitzbühel for some serious action in mid-June. With more than 2,000 athletes from over 40 European countries competing, there are plenty of ways to get a piece of the action. Whether competing for pride or podium, the event is jam-packed with multisport events for all the family. The European Triathlon Championships will witness participants of all ages and all levels get involved in the sport, from kids to seniors and from beginners making their triathlon debuts to elite women and men.
The event reaches its pinnacle when the world’s best go head to head in the finals of the ETU European Triathlon Championships: The swim comprises of 750 m in Schwarzsee Lake; the cycle comprises of 11.55 km (mastering 867 vertical meters) and the run comprises of 2.55 km (136 vertical meters). The European Championships are kicked-off on June 15, 2017 with talented youngsters competing in the “Kitz Tri Games” Youth Series, before age-group athletes from juniors to seniors are roared home to the blue carpet by the Kitzbühel crowds in the following days. There will also be an opportunity for up and coming paratriathletes to race alongside more experienced competitors in a new addition to this year’s line-up. On Friday and Saturday, it’s the turn of the world’s best female and male triathletes to toe the start line. Contested over the standard distance, the races are guaranteed to deliver a thrilling showcase of endurance and strategy in front of hundreds of sports-loving spectators.
