Year after year in May, the international “Music in the Giant” chamber music festival brings internationally noted soloists and top-class ensembles to Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens. The 2017 festival’s top acts includes the famous English Chamber Orchestra.
An extraordinarily diverse and full program distinguishes the 2017 Music in the Giant Festival that is now in its 14th year. The great diversity of five prestigious string quartets and Franz Schubert’s music define the program of the one-week series of concerts, featuring the Minetti Quartet, Quatuor Diotima, the Jerusalem Quartet with clarinettist Sharon Kam, the Belcea Quartet, and the Kitgut Quartet. Venues are the Swarovski Crystal Worlds and the Brandtgut Business Building in Wattens, as well as at the indoor riding arena at Schindlhof in Fritzens.
The virtuoso chamber music program established by the Tirolean composer and pianist Thomas Larcher has become established in recent years as a platform for creative freedom with an emphasis on artistic exchange and an intensive musical experience. This year’s festival’s top acts include the famous English Chamber Orchestra and the Berlin Scharoun Ensemble. The latter will also teach the “Impulse” Master Class Program at the Wattens School of Music on occasion of its 50th anniversary.
