New Year’s Day Concert by the Tirol Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck

Innsbruck, 31.12.2024 - 01.01.2025

The New Year’s Day Concert by the Tirol Symphony Orchestra will be welcoming the New Year with “Strauss Fever!”. The program features polkas, marches and, of course, classic waltzes by the 'Waltz King'.

Johann Strauss II, the most famous and enduringly successful of 19th-century light music composers, was born in Vienna in 1825. Building upon the firm musical foundations laid by his father, Johann Strauss I (1804-1849), the younger Johann (along with his brothers, Joseph and Eduard) achieved so high a development of the classical Viennese waltz that it became as much a feature of the concert hall as of the ballroom. For more than half a century Johann II captivated not only Vienna but also the whole of Europe and America with his abundantly tuneful waltzes, polkas, quadrilles and marches. To celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birthday, the 2025 New Year’s Day Concert by the Tirol Symphony Orchestra will be welcoming the New Year with “Strauss Fever!”.

The New Year’s Day Concert by the Tirol Symphony Orchestra in Innsbruck is the perfect way to celebrate a bright start into the New Year: Amazing Strauss music brings in the New Year in style on January 1, 2025. This New Year’s Day Concert is conducted by Martin Sieghart. The uplifting program includes wonderful popular and lesser known melodies, waltzes, polkas and marches by Johann Strauss, the 'Waltz King'. Soloists are tuba player Andreas Martin Hofmeir, member of the Bavarian LaBrassBanda cult band and Austrian zither player Wilfried Scharf, who has already performed in the New Year’s Concert together with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Full of outstanding music and an extravaganza of talent, enjoy this concert by the Tirol Symphony Orchestra—there is no better way to spend the first day of 2025.

The final dress rehearsal at Innsbruck Congress on December 31, 2024, will be open to visitors as well. Moreover, the Tirol Symphony Orchestra will perform their New Year’s Day Concert in Reutte and in Kufstein as well.
