Switzerland’s largest sporting event, the annual adrenaline-fuelled Tour de Suisse, takes riders to the finishing line of Ötztal’s Rettenbach Glacier, at an elevation of 2,800 meters. Plus, there’s a Challenge for amateur riders.
Ötztal Valley’s mountains get cyclists’ pulses racing during Switzerland’s annual adrenaline-fuelled Tour de Suisse: For the second year in a row, the race snakes its way over mountains and through valleys to Rettenbach Glacier high above Sölden on June 16, 2017. While it may not have the prestige of its French counterpart, the race is equally grueling, with a week of racing covering the length and breadth of the country. By the time the riders reach the finishing line of Rettenbach Glacier, at an elevation of 2,800 meters, they will have clocked up 224.3 challenging kilometers including a nasty 4,300 vertical meters - now that’s a lot of pedal power for one day!
The special highlight for avid road cyclists: Join the Rettenbach Glacier Challenge on race day and battle for glory on your way to the glacier. Amateur riders start at 10:30am at Area 47, located at the gateway to Ötztal Valley. For details please visit www.soelden.com.
