In late January, Innsbruck’s Olympia World is hosting the 2017 World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships. Promising young athletes from all over the world are participating at the event.
About 210 of the best Junior Short Track Skaters in the world, aged between 14 and 18, will compete for their chance at glory at the Innsbruck Olympia World in the end of January 2017. It is run under the same format as the world championships, men and women perform individual races in the 500 metres, 1,000 metres, 1,500 metres, and super 1,500 metres, and a four-person relay in the 3,000 metres for men and women.
Five years ago, Tirol’s capital Innsbruck played host to the junior speed skating events during the Youth Olympic Games. Training starts Januayr 23, 2017; qualifying rounds are scheduled for January 27, 2017 and the finals are held January 28 and 29, 2017.
