Best Family Destinations in the Heart of the Alps


Whether you want to take your kids hiking, swimming or to the country fair, you'll discover that Tirol is a perfect place for a family getaway. Each summer, 16 regions all across Tirol offer plenty of things to see and do with the family.

Each summer and autumn for at least twelve weeks, the Tirol Family Nests turn into outstanding adventure playgrounds offering a wide variety of supervised children’s programmes and special interest camps so you have the flexibility to choose the activities that best suit your child’s interests. When it comes to lodging, quality-inspected hotels ensure your family feels completely at home. For children aged 10 years and older there is a forest adventure day available free of charge.

All of accommodation options in the Tirol Family Nests have been designed with families in mind and meet strict criteria. And the best thing is that the weekly activity programme is available free of charge!

In summer 2017 families can look forward to a series of great adventures with Rudi Rucksack. The local mascot will show you around the region and, if you are lucky, even reveal what he has in his magic bag.

Forest adventure day for children aged 10+

Try it if you dare! During the Waldläufer Cross Country Camp, children will challenge and surprise themselves in nature and develop a strong connection with the natural environment. Activities include building a treehouse, cutting wood and making special bracelets to keep. Exploring the fields and forests, the participants learn wilderness survival skills and discover signs of wildlife – be prepared to have some wild adventures!
