A Tirolean inn is not only a place where traditional cooking is appreciated and cultivated, it's also a place for socializing.

Eating in an inn has a long cultivated tradition in Tirol. Ever since Tirol has been a country with many people travelling through and so Tirolean cooking has always been under various influences from abroad. Today you can hardly tell whether a meal is typically, originally Tirolean or not. However, fact is that Tirol has had a very interesting cuisine for a long time, as you can see for example in Philippine Welser’s cookbook.

Mass tourism in the last decades had the negative consequence that Tirolean cuisine was threatened of being exchanged for a commonplace cooking. However, the Tiroleans recalled the value and the specific characteristics of their cuisine and so the Initiative for Preserving Tirolean Inns has been founded. The guests’ well-being and satisfaction have top priority in every Tirolean inn. A guest is regarded as someone who wants to be provided with hospitality. The house, in order to be considered a Tirolean inn, as to meet various requirements as far as modern standards for hygiene, equipment and table manners are concerned.

Furthermore it has to have a special Tirolean touch – a Tirolean inn is possible only in Tirol. The inn’s menu verifies these criteria: local meals have to be part of it, as well as regional specialities, all prepared with loving care and special know-how. It goes without saying that only local products are used for preparing these meals. In order to meet the demand of all our guests, international meals have not completely been banned.
