Once you have rocketed down a ski run in a specially prepared kayak you what it means to have a blast:
Snow kayaking is fast and poses a tough steering challenge speed. Picture yourself blazing down the mountain, paddle and all, but breaking is not really possible. Even experienced kayakers have a hard time steering their boats and beginners often just careen down the slopes backwards … as helpless as little kids on their plastic bobs.
At least the paddle provides some assistance in steering past the obstacles and through the steep, banked turns and water-filled pools. Snow Kajak WM Lienz 2008

This year 100 fearless athletes will have the opportunity to fight for win and glory in Osttirol. To register go to www.snowkajak.com. Participation will be on a first come, first serve basis.
If you want to participate in this slightly insane but exhilarating race, you should secure your slot now. Spine protectors, helmets and life jackets are obligatory, a soft pillow for your butt recommended.
All the other race preparations - be it a waxed kayak or a hearty snack for the road - are up to you. The event is all about having a blast, whether as a participant or a spectator, during the race or at the après-boat party.
