You don’t just want to walk through the best hiking regions. So what about flying for change? Taking off and floating through the air like an eagle. Now you can in the Achensee holiday region on the Rofan: With the “AIRROFAN” Skyglider, those who dare, grow wings. Waiting for them is a breathtaking flight experience from the Gschölkopf (2,038 m) with a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. Don’t worry: you’ll fly as safely as a bird, so that you can enjoy every second of the flight. It’s still an exciting adventure, because the flying machine – designed on the lines of an eagle – covers a vertical difference of 200 metres at a speed of over 80 kmh. So buckle up and take a direct flight to a great leisure experience!
Excursion to the ADLERHORST
The Adlerweg runs through the lovely Achensee region in five stages. Apart from the AIRROFAN, another attraction based on the eagle enriches this famous long-distance hiking path: The ADLERHORST, an impressive viewing platform on the Gschölkopf, is designed like a giant eagle’s nest. With a diameter of eight metres and a 360° panorama, it juts out over the valley and offers fabulous views across the Achensee, the Rofan and Karwendel mountains and far beyond the Tyrol. The AIRROFAN and ADLERHORST can be reached in comfort onboard the Rofan cable car. And if you don’t want to hike or fly into the valley - e.g. on a hang-glider or paraglider - then ride back down on the cable car.
Getting there
By car from Munich: Exit motorway at Holzkirchen, via Tegernsee and Achenpass to the border then on to Maurach or via the A12 to the Achensee exit. From there via the B181 to Maurach (10 km). Railway: by scheduled bus or taxi from Jenbach station to Maurach (4 km).

The ADLERHORST can only be accessed in summer and can be reached from the cable car station on foot in 40 minutes.

Flights on the AIRROFAN Skyglider are permitted for children aged 10 and above or taller than 1.30m. The children’s rate applies to children born from 1996 onwards. Proof of age required in case of doubt.
