Bruck am Ziller, Zillertal Valley

The sunny side of life: Bruck am Ziller lies at the entrance to the Zillertal Valley on the lower slopes of the 1,336m high Reither Kogel mountain and is also famous for its Mediterranean flair.

Locals refer to Bruck am Ziller as the "Merano of the Zillertal Valley" in reference to the town of Merano in South Tirol, Italy, famed for its sunshine and Mediterranean flair. The village is located near the entrance to the Zillertal Valley on the slopes of the 1,336m high Reither Kogel mountain, home to a small ski resort in winter and hiking area in summer. This quiet municipality with 1,050 inhabitants is an excellent starting point for outdoor activities such as walking and mountaineering. Running alongside the railway track is the flat Zillertal Cycle Path leading into the valley. Keen swimmers will find a natural lake in neighbouring Schlitters as well as a range of pools and saunas at the Erlebnistherme Zillertal in Fügen.
