Grinzens

Grinzens is one of several holiday villages surrounding the regional capital Innsbruck and lies on a plateau near the entrance to the Sellraintal Valley.

Once a rural farming village, Grinzens has developed in recent decades to become a popular holiday destination. The 1,400 people who live here appreciate the beauiful landscape and excellent range of sporting activities, including hiking and rock climbing in the majestic Kalkkögel mountains. Mountainbikers will also find plenty to keep them occupied, such as the ride up to the Kemater Alm and the Adolf Pichler Hütte huts in the quiet Senderstal Valley. On hot summer days the Freizeitzentrum Axams leisure centre and the Natterer See natural swimming lake are the perfect place to cool off.

Winter activities include ice skating and traditional curling in Grinzens, tobogganing at the Kemater Alm, winter hiking and cross-country skiing. Grinzens is also located close to the ski resorts of Kühtai and Axamer Lizum, both of which are snowsure throughout the season thanks to their high altitudes.
