Skiing in Hopfgarten im Brixental

Hopfgarten im Brixental offers the ideal conditions for an enjoyable skiing holiday, not least because this pretty village is one of the sunniest in the Kitzbühel Alps. Located on the south-western slopes of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, it stands at the foot of the mighty Hohe Salve mountain – at 1,829m one of the highest mountains in the resort. It is also widely regarded as having some of the best views anywhere in the east of Tirol. One of the best places to enjoy these views is the rotating terrace next to the summit restaurant, where the Kitzbühel Alps, the Wilder Kaiser Mountains and the Hohe Tauern Mountains stretch into the distance.

The Salvenbahn, a modern 8-person cable car, transports skiers and snowboarders from Hopfgarten up into the heart of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental – with around 90 lifts and cable cars, 70 huts, several funparks, a ski movie run and a huge selection of pistes one of the largest ski networks anywhere in Austria. The area around the summit of the Hohe Salve has plenty of wide slopes which families and beginners will enjoy, while those with a little more experience should head to the Black Eagle run to Hochsöll or the steep but grippy south-facing run to Hochbrixen. The Black Pipe is an ungroomed ski route with a gradient of up to 80%. And the blue (intermediate) run to Hopfgarten is the longest in the SkiWelt at 5.8km.

For children, beginners and those getting back into snowsports after a while away, there is a large practice area next to the bottom of the lifts. There are also two ski schools with professional instructors. Toddlers can be looked after by the childcare team at the Kids Club Salvenaland. And, last but not least, there is a heated ski equipment storage area and an underground car park with 500 free parking spaces in the resort.
