Lechaschau

As the name suggests, Lechaschau in the district of Reutte lies on the banks of the Lech river, the only remaining wild river in the Northern Alps, and is surounded by large swathes of protected alluvial forests.

Its approximately 2,000 inhabitants and the many guests who choose to spend their holidays in Lechaschau appreciate the untouched surroundings which can be explored on foot and by bike. In winter there is a network of cross-country skiing trails such as those on the Hahnenkamm mountain. Further activities include tennis and a facility for Eisstockschießen, a traditional form of curling which has been played in the west of Austria for many centuries. During the warm summer months there is no better place to cool off than the Frauensee lake. It is also just a short drive from Lechaschau to Reutte, the largest town in the region.
