Wenns

Wenns is a small village in a sunny location on the valley floor at the start of the Pitztal Valley. Home to almost 2,000 inhabitants, Wenns has a long history and is home to a 700-year-old farmhouse which, according to research by a team from the University of Innsbruck, is the oldest in Tirol.

Thanks to its idyllic location, Wenns is the ideal base for exploring the Upper Inntal Valley on foot or by bike, for example the Piller Hochmoor. In winter, the Hochzeiger ski resort offers a wide selection of pistes. Those who want to head even higher into the mountains can visit the nearby Pitztaler Gletscher-Rifflsee glacier resort at the end of the Pitztal Valley. The Wildspitzbahn, Austria’s highest cable car, continues to run throughout the summer and whisks guests in just six minutes up to the 3,440 m Brunnenkogel. From here, those with a head for heights can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and enjoy coffee and cake in Austria’s highest café. Back down in the valley, families will enjoy a visit to the Pitz Park adventure area with a small swimming lake and skittles alley.
