Zöblen

Zöblen is the smallest village in the Tannheimer Tal Valley and has a rich history. It is popular with hikers, mountain bikers and skiers in search of beautiful landscapes and perfect conditions.

Zöblen is proof, if any were needed, that good things come in small packages. Perched at 1,087 metres above sea level in the Allgäu Alps, it can be found at the far western end of the Tannheimer Tal Valley. Like its neighbouring villages of Schattwald and Tannheim, this pretty settlement is an excellent base camp for walking, hiking, mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding. Above the village, on the northern side of the valley, is a road which winds its way up to 1,300 metres above sea level to the Zugspitzblick, a spectacular viewing platform overlooking the valley.

Several walks and hikes in the area invite visitors to learn more about the village's history and nature. Zöblen also has a number of beautiful chapels. Ambitious hikers can climb easy mountains such as the Pirschling, Einstein and Rohnenspitze both in summer and winter. At the Wannenjoch ridge, on the Austrian-German border, there is a family-friendly themed trail telling the story of smuggling in the region.

During the winter months, Zöblen and the Tannheimer Tal Valley in general are popular destinations for snowshoe walking and skiing, both alpine and cross-country. The altitude over 1,000 metres above sea level ensures excellent conditions through until early spring.
