5 Reasons To Choose Tirol For Your Destination Wedding

Updated on 17.06.2019 in Recommendations

Winter Wedding in Mayrhofen

The wedding industry is changing and more couples are choosing to go against traditions and get married overseas. This year I have already accompanied 10 couples from Germany to Australia, to Tirol for their weddings in the Alps.

For couples who love travel, nature and the mountains, here are 5 reasons why Tirol is the perfect place to say “I Do”

1. Breathtaking Landscapes

There aren’t many places in the world where you can get married amongst mountains or on the edge of a beautiful lake. But here in Tirol there are so many beautiful locations to choose from, from the high peaks of the Ötztal alps to the shores of Lake Achensee.

2. Beautiful Architecture

Tirol isn’t just beautiful nature. There is also so much beautiful architecture here too. From the old town charm of Hall in Tirol to the rustic wooden alms on the mountains, you’ll be spoiled for choice when looking for your perfect dream wedding venue.

3. Easy To Access

Not everybody wants to hike for 3 hours on their wedding day, and in Tirol there are so many incredible locations that you can reach by car or mountain lift. This means you can have the feeling of getting married on top of the world without having the hard climb to get there.

4. You Can Get Legally Married Here

There are no residency requirements for getting married in Austria, which means you can get legally married here even if you don’t live here. There are some restrictions on where the ceremony can take place, but in Tirol you’ll find some of the most picturesque locations for a civil ceremony in all of Austria, like the Hohe Mut Alm in Obergurgl or the Kandler Alm in Brixen im Thale.

5. Winter Is Just As Beautiful As Summer

Most people think of summer as wedding season, but in Tirol winter weddings are also very popular. Couples can combine their winter ski holiday with a dream winter wedding in the Alps, and celebrate with a good apres-ski style party in a beautiful mountain hut.
