The Ischgl-Paznaun Tourist Board, the Tirol Tourist Board and Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports have teamed up to offer you the chance to win an incredible week’s ski holiday to Ischgl, in the Austrian Tirol.
Offering top quality snow, skiing, snowboarding, restaurants and entertainment, Ischgl, in the Austrian Tirol’s Paznaun valley, is an ideal destination for an alpine escape. It’s one of the largest linked ski resorts in the Alps, and highlights of this coming season include the ‘Top of the Mountain’ concerts with international music stars, the ‘Shapes in White’ snow sculpture competition and the 22nd ‘Chefs’ Trophy’.
Ischgl is located towards the west of the Austrian Tirol, in a sunny mountain valley between the Silvretta and Verwall peaks, at an altitude of 1,377 m. Guests can admire the spectacular views across to the neighbouring communities of Galtür, Kappl and See.
Showcasing more than 230 km of pistes accessed by 45 comfortable lift and cable-car facilities, plus endless freeriding areas and one of Europe’s largest freestyle parks, there’s something for every type of skier and snowboarder.
A new six-seater chairlift, the Gampen E4, has replaced the Gampenbahn (that was built in 1988). The new chairlift, which opened in summer 2018, covers the greatest elevation difference of any six-seat chairlift in the world, with more than rising 924 metres. Plus, the Ischgl Skyfly, a two-kilometre zip wire, offers visitors in the Silvretta Arena an alternative descent down the mountains. Reaching speeds of 85 km/h, along two 50m parallel cables, courage is key. Additionally, the Flimjochbahn cable car provides efficient journeys from the Idalp to the Flimjoch.
Aside from the multiple skiing and snowboarding opportunities, Ischgl is also renowned for its high-calibre events. From the legendary ‘Top of the Mountain’ concert in Easter to the Gastronomy Ski World Championships and highly acclaimed snow-sculpture competition. Plus, its après-ski scene is second to none: from the wide range of restaurants to the many clubbing scenes, where night owls can be found dancing into the early hours.
Or, make the most of the flood-lit toboggan run, which starts out from the Silvrettabahn mountain station. Open on Mondays and Thursdays in good weather from mid-December to mid-April, it’s the ideal evening’s activity for speed-loving star-gazers!
