Katharina: “It all started because one year there was so much snow and our shared flat in Hötting is really close to the mountains. We could leave our flat and walk straight up to the toboggan run. Now tobogganing is our shared tradition, even if we no longer live together. For us it is about doing something in the evenings. Some people cook together – we go tobogganing. We have always been into sport. Innsbruck is the perfect city – the nearest mountain is never far away.”

Siggi: “It was really funny, actually. The day after I moved into the flat they said to me, ‘Hey, come on, we’re going night tobogganing.’ As Jannis sped down the run I could see sparks fly as the steel runners on his toboggan came into contact with a rock. That was pretty impressive.”

Jannis: “Lots of people think of tobogganing as a children’s sport, but it is just as fun as skiing. We always race each other – the loser has to wash up or sit on the back seat in the car on the way home.”

Katharina, Jannis, Siggi & Max, Friends and former flatmates

Former flatmates Katharina, Jannis, Siggi – full name: Siegfried – and Max share a passion for tobogganing. The four friends used to live together as students in a shared flat and, during this time, visited many of the toboggan runs in Tirol. This adventure took them to the Elfer-Pinnistal run in the Stubai Valley.
