Plenty of sunshine, mild temperatures, fabulous mountain views and a majestic location high above the town of Lienz. Welcome to Iselsberg-Stronach! This municipality perched at 1,117 metres above sea level is surrounded by the Hohe Tauern National Park, making it the perfect place for hikers and mountain bikers keen to explore the region. In winter there is a wide range of ski touring routes and cross-country skiing trails in and around the Lienz Dolomites.
Iselsberg-Stronach’s long and proud history is reflected in its many historic buildings such as the Walchenstein ruins and the Marienkirche church. Another attraction well worth a visit are the Stronacher Erdpyramiden, bizarre earth pyramids which were formed during the Ice Age and have survived until today. A trip to the earth pyramids can be easily combined with a hike around the Zwischenberger Lacke wetlands, where information stations tell visitors all about the flora and fauna which is protected in this nature reserve.
