The craft of shoemaking may be on the wane, but Marc Achmüller from Steinach still has a burning passion for finding the perfect shoe for every single person who visits the SchuhLabor.
Our feet take a pounding every day, be it jogging in the park or out and about in the city. They must support our weight and are an essential part of making sure that we carry out movements efficiently and correctly. Why, then, do many of us wear shoes which do not perform these basic functions. That is the question which Marc Achmüller, a young shoe fitter from Steinach, has been asking himself for many years and has driven him in his 15-year quest to find the perfect shoe for every person who visits the SchuhLabor.
The right shoe for you
After all, each foot is different. No two are the same. Indeed, there are even major differences between a person's left and right feet. And everyone who likes walking, hiking, running or skiing knows all too well that badly fitting shoes can be torture.
That is why Marc Achmüller's SchuhLabor in Steinach not only stocks a wide range of sports shoes from the biggest brands in the industry but also offers a unique personal shoe-fitting service. First, a computer generates a precise 3D model of the customer's foot. This model then forms the basis for the fitting process. For example, each individual part of a ski boot (shell, tongue, inner, etc.) can be stretched, moulded and ground into the perfect shape. Achmüller also produces custom-made shoes on request.
