For the first time, Austria will host the Virtus World Championships in March 2023. This international event will feature the best skiers with intellectual impairment from around the globe.
Virtus holds world championships across summer and winter sports. Every four years, the Virtus Global Games bring together over 1000 athletes to compete in 10 Olympic sports in the largest celebration of inclusion and athletic excellence. The Seefeld event was deferred from 2022 due to the impact of the global pandemic. From March 12 through 18, 2023, the international event will feature the best skiers with intellectual impairment from about 13 countries around the globe, including Japan, Australia, Estonia, Poland and France. The athletes will compete in four Nordic and four Alpine disciplines. The downhill events will take place at Rosshütte Ski Resort; the Alpine Team events will be held at Gschwandtkopf Ski Resort. The Seefeld World Championship Arena will play host to the Nordic ski events.
