A kaleidoscope of colours takes over the sky at Kitzbühel Alps this September, with more than 30 balloons floating over the beautiful mountains and valleys during the International Libro Ballooning Cup.
The 35th International Libro Ballooning Cup fills the sky from September 14 to 22, 2024 with one of the highest-altitude balloon events in the country. Over nine days, pilots coming from Austria, Germany, Great Britain and Switzerland will compete in challenges. Since balloon pilots can be pretty competitive, you’re guaranteed a good show; this exciting event is sure to make spirits soar with special mass ascensions and spectacular balloon glows. Get there early to see them all lift off and glow in the morning sun at 08:00am or admire them in the evening sun at 5:00pm. Many of the balloons stay fully inflated but tethered to the ground so spectators can get up-close views. Imagine rows upon rows of bulbous luminaries, dozens of feet tall, lit up from the glow of flames. Highlights include Wednesday Evening Glow on September 18, 2024. By 7:30pm, the actual Evening Glow features brightly coloured balloons lighting up the night sky and coming to an end with fireworks displays at Stöcklfeld in Kirchberg. During the event, you can also find yourself in a thatched basket hundreds of feet up, looking down on the lofty peaks of the Tirolese Mountains on a balloon ride.
