In 2019 again, Gasteig am Wilden Kaiser celebrates the cattle drive from Obingalm with a massive festival, complete with live music, an exhibition of vintage tractors and tons of activities for little ones.
On September 7, 2019, visitors can see the cows up close in their beautiful headdresses as they return from the Alpine summer grazing pastures and parade through Habach (11:30am) and Kirchdorf (12:00noon) on their way to Kramerhof Farm in the hamlet of Gasteig, where the herd is expected to arrive by 1:00pm. Live music can be heard across the place and the mood will be festive from noon onwards.
The festival is a celebration of a good summer season and a safe return home of the cows, and it is also a good party that draws locals and tourists from far and wide to Kramerhof Farm on September 8, 2019 at 11:00am. There will be traditional brass bands playing, all donning their very best lederhosen and feathered hats. By noon, the vintage tractors will arrive. A farmers’ market is held on both days and craft demonstrations will be happening. Plus, there will be tons of activities for little ones, including farm Olympics, pony riding and caressing farm animals.
