“You are nature!”: Focusing on the promotion of a sustainable and future-oriented development of society, the established international film competition will be at the heart of the festival, now in its 20th year.
Tirol’s capital Innsbruck is surrounded by awesome beauty of nature, with lofty peaks and summits as far as the eye can see. In all its splendour, dominance and power, is nature considered to be an everlasting given? Is it taken for granted? For one week in October 2021, the Innsbruck Nature Festival will be celebrating nature. Dedicated to the conscious treatment of nature and the environment, the festival is packed with ideas of how everyone can take action for nature. There will be related lectures and panel talks with experts and scientsts, organized by the University of Innsbruck, along with art projects and workshops. Locally sourced food will feature on the menus of participating restaurants.
At the heart of the festival will be international film competition, which is now in its 20th year. 51 nominated films will be screened at Metropol Cinema in Innsbruck. The topics of the films include the climate change youth movement, overfishing, reforesting and river cruising. The internationally renowned film competition is endowed with € 18,000 in five main categories, over all the “Grand Prize of the City of Innsbruck” for the best nature and the best environmental documentary.
