Kitzbühel celebrates the 2020 Tour of Austria Stop with the first Kitzbühel Cycling Marathon, debuting on July 05, 2020. Recreational athletes can show off their prowess in this mettle-testing, muscle-busting road bike race.
This new road cycling event pits amateur athletes against one another in the most rigorous climb of the 2020 Tour of Austria: the challenging ascent of what is considered Austria’s steepest mountain, the summit of Kitzbüheler Horn—that is, hill-climbing, at a grade of up to 22.3 percent! In this extreme road ride, cyclists traverse 216 kilometers across Alpbachtal Valley and Brandenberg and over three gorgeous mountain passes – Pass Thurn, Gerlos Pass and Kerschbaumer Saddle – for a total elevation gain of 4,600 meters.
The new Kitzbühel Cycling Marathon will be organized by the experienced team of the Tour of Austria. Side events begin on July 03, 2020 after the final stop of the Tour with a Marathon Expo at Sport Park. Registration ends there on Saturday and bibs will be distributed. The “Kitz & Pasta Party” will kick off the Kitzbühel Cycling Marathon on Saturday night. The extreme marathon race will start at Vorderstadt on Sunday at 06:00am.
