For cheese lovers, all roads lead to the mountain village of Galtür on September 30, 2023. More than 100 artisan cheesemakers from Austria, Germany, Italy’s South Tyrol and Switzerland will come together in search of the best cheeses of the Alps—and to share their passion for making fine cheeses. Now in its 29th year, the International Mountain Cheese Olympics invite consumers to experience the Alpine region’s finest craft cheeses. The highly coveted Galtür Dairyman Harp in Gold will be presented for superior quality by a selected expert jury. The Mountain Cheese Olympics are a one-of-a-kind cheese event where visitors will taste a rich variety of superb mountain cheeses and meet the artisans who make them.
The event begins at 11:00am at the Galtür Sports and Culture Center. Visitors are invited to sample and purchase the fine artisan cheeses between 11:00am and 6:00pm.
