Time to get off the couch and into the mud: For those willing to mentally & physically push to achieve their personal best, Spartan is a catalyst for transformation, pushing you beyond what you thought was possible.
The first Spartan Race event was held in 2010 in Vermont, USA. Roughly 500 competitors had to "run, crawl, jump and swim" and overcome a variety of obstacles. Nowadays, 130 Spartan Races are franchised to 15 countries including Austria each year, such as the held in Tirol’s Oberndorf in September 2020. The series offer open heats for all fitness levels in one weekend, including the Spartan Sprint (5+ kilometers and 20 obstacles), the Super Spartan (10+ kilometers and 25 obstacles), and the Spartan Beast, featuring a half marathon distance and and 30 obstacles. The weekend also offers the Hurrican Heat, where teams of competitors and coaches have four hours to complete a punishing course. There is also a Kids Open Heat aimed at youngsters. Family and friends are welcome to cheer on their mini-Spartans as spectators.
It will be no easy task to prove your physical and mental endurance, but victory is best when well deserved! Spartan Race provides a proving ground for beginner and professional obstacle racers looking to test themselves in new ways.
