One continuous loop beginning and ending in Tannheim, the Tannheimertal Valley–Bad Hindelang Ski Trail is a cross-bordering cross country ski marathon event that coincides with the Balloon Festival.
Each year in late January, Tannheim plays host to one of Austria’s biggest cross country ski events. The annual Ski Trail lures about 1,400 ambitious Nordic skiers with attractive competitions. From ambitious visitors to top athletes – the Ski Trail across Tannheim Valley has something for everyone, from 14K and 32K classic events to 18K, 32K and 51K skating-style races. This international, cross-bordering cross country ski marathon takes avid skiers across Tirol’s Tannheim Valley and on to Bad Hindelang in Germany with the loop bringing them back to Tannheim. For aspiring Nordic skiers, there’s the popular 2.2K and 3.9K Mini Ski Trail. In the evening, it’s all about little Nordic skiers at the technique course installed by the German Ski Association.
This year’s event is hosted by olympic winner in nordic skiing, Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle who provides free coaching sessions where participants can demo the latest gear for free.
