Visitors to the Tux-Finkenberg region at the end of the Zillertal Valley can look forward to an unforgettable holiday at the foot of the mighty Hintertux Glacier, including the majestic Nature Ice Palace with its frozen waterfalls.
Two of the main highlights for families in the Tux-Finkenberg holiday region can be found high in the mountains at the end of the Zillertal Valley. One is the Spannagelhöhle, an ancient cave carved into marble at 2,521 metres above sea level. The other is the Nature Ice Palace at 3,200 metres above sea level – a huge crevasse giving visitors the opportity to actually walk inside the Hintertux Glacier. With its illuminated Ice Chapel, enchanting Crystal Chamber and shimmering Glacier Lake, it is a truly memorable experience. Both attractions are open daily. Not far away, at the Gletscherflohpark, it is even possible to have a snowball fight in the middle of summer or ride around on a snow tyre carousel. Had enough of winter? No problem! In that case, head to the Sommerberg mountain with its family-friendly restaurant, large play area and climbing wall, giant slide and pedal go-kart track. On hot days we recommend a visit to the Erlebnisfreibad Finkenberg or the Thermalfreibad Hintertux outdoor swimming pools.
