Traualpsee

The Naturschutzgebiet Vilsalpsee nature reserve is home to two beautiful lakes: the Vilsalpsee and the Traualpsee.

Walking along the shores of Lake Traualpsee is an unforgettable experience. At 1,631 metres above sea level the lake is a natural habitat for many alpine plants and animals but remains cold throughout the year, meaning that only brave souls take the plunge on a hot summer’s day for a (quick) swim. A good place to warm up over a hearty meal is the adjacent Obere Traualpe hut or the Landsberger Hütte hut, just a 20-minute walk away.
