Mountain Bike Safari Stage 05: Lermoos – Seefeld in Tirol

This ride across lovely Gaistal Valley, which is encircled by spectacular, rugged mountain walls to the south and to the north, is a true gem. There are not many trails that can equal the easy to intermediate riding and spectacular terrain and natural beauty.

The view into picturesque Leutasch Valley is well worth the 600-meter uphill pedal. The route then climbs towards Seefeld in sweeping hairpins. Beautiful panoramas of Western Plattspitze Mountain, Hochwand Wall and Tajaköpfe Peaks all add to the special charm of this idyllic and remote valley scenery. The top terminal of Grubigstein Gondola heralds the start of an additional downhill option for avid trail riders, following Blindsee Trail to Ehrwald.

Ride the gondola atop Ehrwalder Alm where a short climb with a couple of switchbacks finishes above Igelsee Pond. The pond is the start of a long and stunning descent. At Kilometer 20, the downhill path turns onto a road that runs into Gaistal Valley. This is the start of the waymarked cycle path across Leutasch Valley. Ride this path past Weidachsee Lake until you reach Weidach. From there, the route runs to the south and climbs towards Seefeld in sweeping hairpins.

Finishing Point: Seefeld in Tirol

Note: The top terminal of Grubigstein Gondola (Bergbahn Langes • +43. 5673.2323 • www.bergbahnen-langes.at) heralds the start of an additional downhill option for avid trail riders, following Blindsee Trail (S1-S2) to Ehrwald.
