Located in the beautiful Kitzbühel Alps, the Großer Galtenberg is the highest mountain in the regon around Kufstein. It is known for its fabulous views and can be accessed via a 16km hike taking around 8 hours. Hikers will climb 1,376 vertical metres on their way up to the summit at 2,424 metres above sea level.
- This challenging summit hike is well worth the effort. It rewards walkers with fantastic views of the surrounding landscape. In June and July hikers can look forward to swathes of alpine roses creating thick patches of pink on the otherwise green meadows.
- The Großer Galtenberg is also known for its diverse flora and fauna. Highlights include marmots and many flowers native to the Alps.
- Hungry hikers can stop at the Farmkehralm hut, which serves excellent regional food on its large sunny terrace.
