Winter hike
Simmeringalm

The pretty Simmeringalm hut in Obsteig has a cosy wood-panelled snug where hikers can warm up over a hearty meal after completing the 815 vertical metres from the starting point to the hut at over 1800 metres. The hike takes around 2.5 hours but is well worth the effort and rewards walkers with majestic views of the Mieminger Kette mountains as well as the Stubai and Ötztal Alps. The Simmeringalm is also popular with tobogganers in winter.

Trail description

This hike begins at the Grünberg car park in Obsteig. After passing a hay barn follow the wide path, including a section along an abandoned ski piste, all the way to Zwischensimmering (approx. 1 hour). Turn right here and follow the signs for Simmeringalm. After around 1 to 1 ½ more hours of walking you will reach the hut. Walk back down along the same route or, alternatively, whizz back down on a toboggan!
