The glistening waters of the Kopssee-Stausee and the Zeinis-Stausee, two reservoirs above the village of Galtür in the Paznaun Valley, are a spectacular sight and well worth the effort of this 14-kilometre-long hike along easy and intermediate trails. Walkers will be accompanied all the way by the majestic peaks of the Silvretta and Verwall Mountains as they make their way through the settlement of Wirl up to the reservoirs, which are located just over the regional border in the neighbouring province of Vorarlberg. Hungry hikers will be pleased to know that en route there are several huts serving hearty local food.

Trail description
The starting point of this winter hike is the car park at the bottom of the Birkhahnbahn cable car in the settlement of Wirl near Galtür. Follow the main road up the valley for about one and a half kilometres until the Zeinisjochstraße branches off to the right. Follow this uphill towards Zeinis and Kops. The road passes under the Birkhahnbahn and Alpkogelbahn ski lifts. In the shadow of the Alpkogel, hikers reach the Zeinisjoch ridge at an altitude of 1,842 metres, which also marks the border between Tirol and Vorarlberg. The road then descends slightly, first to the Zeinis-Stausee reservoir and then - slightly uphill - to the nearby Kopssee reservoir. Return along the way you came.
Food & drink: There are several huts in the first half of the walk serving food and drink. The last of these is the Fluchthorn-Alm.
