In spring, love is around every corner so what could be more appropriate than a romantic weekend getaway with your significant other? Whether your idea of romance is historic surroundings, romantic seclusion or sleeping in a bed of hay, there’s a hotel in Tirol to set your heart aflutter.

One of the top romantic places in Tirol to sneak a smooch, Gramaialm offers intimate experiences to choose from. With the booking of a specific romance package, couples can opt for a romantic setup that includes lovely decorations, a candlelight dinner and time for two in the hay barn. To experience Gramaialm in true extravagance, the spa can be booked for your exclusive use, complete with sparkling wine, an open fire and a romantic couples’ retreat. This place is just made for pulse-racing seduction!

2. Berg’k’hof, Kaisertal

Blissfully in the middle of nowhere, this 14th century farmhouse is the ultimate romantic getaway. It’s hard to pin down Berg’k’hof’s most romantic quality. There’s its seclusion – it’s accessible only on foot. There’s cozy nooks inviting you to relax comfortably wherever you turn – and you can soak in the wooden outdoor tub with knee-trembling views of the rugged Wilder Kaiser Mountain Range. Owner Florian Bergk has completely remodeled the historic farmstead recently. Plus, he serves an inventive menu of local delights. A romantic escape at Berg’k’hof allows couples to breakaway and find themselves in a nest of love at Kaisertal, ranked among Austria’s most beautiful valleys.

The rooms are decorated with antique furnishings and with wonderful detail, plus there are marble bathrooms and deliciously comfortable beds. Beautifully restored, this hotel oozes glamour, romance and seduction. Couples are encouraged to explore the beautiful formal gardens named “Matzen Park”. There’s wonderful dining at onsite “Gut Matzen” restaurant, plus an amazing spa in the tower, spread over five floors.

In scenic Stubai Valley, romance goes further than simply soaking in the natural beauty of the mountains. Here, you will be sleeping in a bed of fragrant hay and star-gazing at night. In the morning, at cockcraw, you will wake up to a hearty and eye-opening breakfast of homemade specialties. Ladestatthof is a romantic refuge for couples wanting to get a quaint taste of simple life on the farm — without all the work. Offering a spa with dry-heat sauna, steam room and ice grotto, this is a rural escape designed for indulging and makes a truly magical setting for a romantic getaway.

5. Stanglwirt Hüttlingmoos, Going

Nestled mid-mountain, where the slopes of rugged Wilder Kaiser Mountain Range rise steeply, “Hüttlingmoos” offers discerning guests an extravagant escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life through luxurious chalet-style accommodation, legendary service, and recreation. Used as a simple summer base for mountain farmers in earlier times, Stanglwirt converted it into a romantic hideaway. It’s a deluxe on-mountain experience, complete with five star comforts and personalized services such as a private chef and a private butler. This outstanding mountain retreat sets a romantic mood with its wood-burning fireplace and the added draw of Wilder Kaiser mountain views.

For adventurous couples looking to explore the backcountry, escape to “LechZeit”, a cozy haven with modern decor and contemporary charm. Situated right at the heart of Tiroler Lech Nature Park, this new hotel is the ideal spot for a romantic break on the banks of the Lech River, the last wild river in the Northern Alps. Couples who bond over sports activities can cuddle up in one of the crisp, minimalist rooms after a day spent hiking or biking in the great outdoors. Definitely a great place to steal a kiss or two!

7. Träumerei #8 Boutique Hotel, Kufstein

Designed for dreamy interludes, “Träumerei” (translating to ‘dreaming ‘) has all the essential ingredients for seduction, from five-course dinners with a love theme served on your room to your own private Jacuzzi. Fun and exotic, individually themed rooms combined with an overall madcap sense of decoration and an outstanding bar, which is hidden in an old tunnel and decorated in an old-timey, speakeasy-style theme, make this a hugely popular choice for celebrations and special occasions. Rooms themselves are modelled on different parts of the world and furnished with reclaimed timber and finest fabrics. It’s elegant, a bit quirky and irresistibly seductive.

8. Ufogel, Nussdorf-Debant

This unusually shaped, UFO-inspired, shingle-clad cabin named “Ufogel” invites couples to cuddle up for a romantic weekend in the mountains. The structure appears to hover off the ground almost like some sort of alien object (fittingly, its name translates to a cross between a UFO and a bird). Its sharp angles and asymmetrical shape give it a distinctly futuristic, nest-like look—and make it a perfect nest of love. Offering 45-square-meters of living space, the interiors of the cabin are fitted throughout with larch panels, creating a cozy cabin ambiance. Large, angled-glass windows flood the inside with sunlight and offer jaw-dropping views of East Tirol’s glorious mountain scenery.

Having worked overseas for years, Klaus Brunner returned home to explore Tirol with his camera and microphone in tow. Home is where the heart is.
