Environmentally friendly travel: getting around Tirol without a car

The choice of transport for your arrival and departure has the greatest impact on the greenhouse gas footprint of your holiday. Travelling to Tirol by public transport is stress-free, while the region has an excellent public transport network to help you get around during your time here. A great way to protect Tirol's unique nature and enjoy a relaxing car-free holiday.

  • Innsbruck main railway station: comprehensive long-distance and local transport connections, including Nightjet and Holiday Express trains.
  • Numerous bus lines within Innsbruck and to neighbouring villages; city bikes, scooters and e-car sharing available.
  • Special bus services such as the Mieminger Plateau summer activity bus, Line J to the Patscherkofel and the Innsbruck Nordkettenbahn cable car, as well as the shuttle bus to the Swarovski Crystal Worlds.
  • With the Welcome Card, free use of local transport within the region including city transport for stays of two nights or more. In addition to public transport, the Innsbruck Card also offers the shuttle to the Swarovski Crystal Worlds, the Sightseer Bus and bike hire.
  • Some hotels offer special shuttle services: Hotel Schwarz and Biohotel Holzleiten with free transfers; Hotel Stern grants a 5% discount when travelling by public transport, rents out electric cars and mountain bikes for a fee and offers free pick-up from Telfs or Ötztal railway station.
