Event Ceremonial Cattle Drive in Steeg

When they arrive in the evening, magnificently decorated with their shepherds, a tear is shed in Steeg: the healthy return of the alpine animals is celebrated here.

Description

When the young cattle from the Pimigalpe, Krabachalpe and Stieralpe as well as the cows from Vorderbockbach and Älpele return to Steeg, the largest cattle drive in the region is in full swing. The decorated animals return to the valley from around 11 am.

It is advisable to arrive in good time, as the main road will be closed for several hours. The cattle drive is celebrated until the afternoon. A festival with live music starts in the early afternoon. In the evening, shepherds and herdsmen march in with the sound of bells. A particularly beautiful bell is raffled off among the guests.
