the arrival of hundreds of sheep in the narrow streets of Tarrenz is a memorable sight. The fact that the woolly stars, accompanied by their shepherds and farmers, return home safe and sound amidst loud bleating and ringing bells creates an infectiously cheerful atmosphere throughout the village. Incidentally, "Schied" or "Scheid" means that the animals are assigned to their respective owners after the common cattle drive down into the valley.
