Start is at the Infobüro Kössen, from there it goes on to the valley station of the Unterbergbahn. On a wide forest road, the mountain bike trail leads 3.5 km steeply uphill through wooded area - then 2.5 km moderate ascent over alpine pastures to the Scheibenwaldhütte - after 500 m of steep ascent about 1 km flat to the Unterbergalm - then moderate to steep ascent to the Bärenhütte.
